About the copyright

This searchable database version of Roget's Thesaurus was derived from the original plain ASCII e-text [roget14a.txt] of the 1911 Edition of the thesarus, from Project Gutenberg. It was developed by Dr L John Old while at the University of Little Rock and at Indiana University. The e-text is still freely available from Project Gutenberg, but has been upgraded with corrections to roget15a.txt (http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/22) by Dr Old and Dr Joseph E. Loewenstein.

Dr Old has since generated, in addition, MS Word, RTF and HTML versions; and a full index to the thesaurus, available in each format (http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/10681). The two HTML "body" and "index" files are hyperlinked to each other. These can be downloaded to any directory and used locally to explore the thesaurus by following the hyperlinks (Index words <=link=> Body concepts).

Like the e-texts, this database interface is provided to you "as-is". No other warranties of any kind, express or implied, are made to you as to the etext or any medium it may be on, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
